How to Choose Lottery Numbers
For a fair random lottery, every valid number combination has the same probability of being drawn. That remains true whether the combination comes from birthdays, a random generator, a Quick Pick, a spreadsheet or a pattern you have used for years.
Quick Pick and self-selected numbers have the same draw probability
A valid randomly generated line is not mathematically weaker or stronger than a valid line chosen by hand.
The choice is therefore personal. Some players enjoy selecting numbers; others prefer not to spend time on it.
“Hot” and “cold” numbers do not predict the next draw
A number that appeared several times recently is not more likely to appear next time. A number that has been absent for weeks is not “due.”
Independent drawings do not remember previous results.
Frequency tables can describe the past. They cannot turn past draws into a reliable forecast.
Odd and even balance is not an advantage
Some combinations look more typical because they contain a mix of odd and even numbers or numbers spread across the range.
That does not make an individual balanced combination more likely than another valid combination. Unusual looking combinations are still valid outcomes.
Birthdays can affect prize sharing, not the draw
Many people choose birthdays, which concentrates selections in the lower part of a number range. Avoiding commonly chosen patterns cannot increase the probability that your line is drawn.
It may, however, reduce the chance of sharing a prize with another player if your less popular combination happens to win.
That is a prize sharing consideration, not a winning strategy.
Buying more distinct lines
More distinct entries mean more combinations in one drawing. The increase in probability is real but proportional to the extra tickets purchased, and the cost rises at the same time.

The best number selection advice is therefore also the least glamorous: understand that the draw is random, do not mistake historical data for prediction and spend only an amount you are comfortable losing.
